Who are you?

My name is Muriel Mattiussi-Kirchof.
I’m French and moved to Brussels 11 years ago for family reasons (my husband being Dutch, we settled mid-way) and have enjoyed being here ever since. As a translator, living amongst such a diverse community is fantastic!

On which project are you currently working on?

I’m a financial and corporate translator and editor. Through translation and rewriting, I help my clients communicate clearly to a multilingual audience – the public, various stakeholders.
I operate through my commercial name TransLangues– mostly working alone, though I sometimes outsource the projects I cannot handle myself.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

Taking care of my family takes up a lot of my free time! We like baking and travelling together. Whenever there is a bit of me-time left, I enjoy reading or practicing fitness, yoga or nordic walking. And also meeting up with friends.

Song you would like to make us discover?

I’m not really into music but the Phare’s playlist is great. I also enjoy classical music whenever I need to concentrate and black out the surrounding noises.

A quote, a poem, an advice, which follows you everywhere?

« If I cannot realise my ideal… I must idealise my real. » I have no clue who said that, but it was hanging up in my grandfather’s study and is a great reminder of somebody who inspired me greatly.

How do you feel at Le Phare?

Le Phare offers the right mix of energy and quietness. I love having a latte downstairs when it’s still quiet, and then the perspective of lunch keeps me going till 12. I enjoy chatting with the team as much as the invasive smell of cookies. Too bad it’s 10 km from where I live (though the cycle to Le Phare gives me a good excuse to give in to the call of above-mentioned cookies)
