Who are you?

My name is Guillaume Houba. I’m 28 years old. I’m a self taught graphic designer. I work in this field half time for an international company and half time as a freelance for different clients. I’ve been living in Brussels for 6 years now.

On which project are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on projects for my biggest client, an event company based in Namur (my hometown) and specialized in water activities. We have been working together since the very beginning of the adventure, 6 years ago. My job is to create/maintain the graphical identity of the company, work on promotional medias (mainly prints: flyers, posters, banners, books…), develop new ideas and concepts for them. It’s a nice opportunity for me to experiment creative ideas, to mix different graphical themes together : music, sports, decoration, art, food …

What do you like to do when you are not working?

Whatever the mood I’m in, I love cycling ! To wander, to commute, to travel, to evacuate stress and the stiffness after a day behind the computer. Last summer, I experienced touring. My partner and I embarked for a 4000km trip along the eastern coasts of Canada. An important step in my cycling life that makes me want to do more.

I like traveling. But more than that I’m looking for adventure everywhere I go. My best way to provoke it is to hitchike. It’s amazing to see how unexpected opportunities come to you this way. Lots of inspiring people on the road !

I also find a good dose of adventure into nature. Of course I like sensational activities like downhill biking or stand up paddling but I enjoy simple things more, such as hiking. A multiple day hike with my gears and supplies is a great feeling of peace and freedom.

To me, adventure also comes from within and I’m learning how to travel inside as well, through
meditation, altered states of consciousness, … I don’t quiet know how to call it… Spirituality ?

Song you would like to make us discover?

I think my favorite singer/song writer is Bill Withers. For his music, for the timeless and universal message of his lyrics. His album I like the most : +’Justments

A quote, a poem, an advice, which follows you everywhere?

« The very least you can do in your life is to figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do
is to live inside that hope (…) » Barbara Kingsolver – Animal Dreams

How do you feel at Le Phare?

I feel more concentrated on my work than at home in pyjamas !
