Beatriz Gómez Alberdi

My name is Beatriz and I’m from Alicante, Spain. I’m a Spanish teacher and medical doctor.
Before I finished my studies of medicine I already had a contract to work as an intern doctor in Germany. Don’t ask me why exactly but I really wanted to work abroad and Germany was the perfect place to go 😀 It was a great period, I learnt a lot, and met lots of nice people on my way.

In between I was travelling a bit and while being travelling in New York I met the one who would be my boyfriend later on. That actually happened because my flight had a delay on my way back from Toronto to Madrid. We kept in contact and we met again one year and half later in Iceland, where we realized that we liked each other. Thinking about where to settle down, we decided to move to Brussels. And here we are! Three years are already gone, even though my French is still a disaster. Please, let me know if you’re reading that and want to practice your French with me! 😉

On which project are you currently working on?

I’m developing my own website to teach Spanish online, I just registered my domain and I’m very excited about it!

I would also like to help people that want to move to Spain to work in the health sector. I went to that process myself when I moved to Germany and to Belgium, and I know from first hand it is hard! You need to pass a language exam, to do lots of paper work, and in the case of Spain, get used to the tapas and siesta culture (this last part, not a big deal! :p). I would love to help them specially with the Spanish language!

What do you like to do when you are not working?

Reading/writing, travelling, dancing, painting, being with family and friends.

Song you would like to make us discover?

“Mari Carmen” from La Pegatina. It is a funny song, it always cheers me up.

A quote, a poem, an advice, which follows you everywhere?

No risk, no fun.

How do you feel at Le Phare?

I feel at my second home at Le Phare. I haven’t been so many times here but I always meet interesting and nice persons to talk to, the atmosphere is great, you can almost feel the creativity could in the room!
